dude...Jesus is the son of God. He died to save my life and was the best example in human history of how to live your life. He's an awesome guy and my best friend.
I dunno about you guys, but I find these blog debates preeeeetty pointless. We always end up in the same conclusions. And to be honest, I can't see what either side of the argument is gaining.
Christians should live to draw people to Jesus, not to win arguments.
And your belief shouldn't be based only on emotion and faith.
Don't get me wrong, there comes a point where you have to believe that God knows the best plan for your life, but he never expects you to have faith without first finding true evidence of his exsistence.
Some need less evidence than others, but if God is real and you don't give up searching for him, you will find him. Like any discovery, people dont believe it possible until they have real evidence of it - i.e. the world being flat.
I also think that God is much less concerned about religion, and more concerned about His relationship with you. This is something the church very often forgets...sadly
Pie, As far as i am aware, you do believe that there is evidence that disproves (or doubts existence of) God and this is why you do not believe in God. (eg: the evidence about y you're not christian u gave above)
"Atheism n. belief that there is no God. (Atheist)" Sounds a bit more like you, eh Pie?
According to your definition, a person can only be agnostic if not athiest, but you are athiest so therefore NOT agnostic.
Many people call themselves agnostic but actually have little knowledge about religions, which is strange. An agnostic acknowledges the possibility of a God and would be actively searching for more answers to determine the truth (when eternity is at stake, it would motivate you).
Pie seems pretty comfortable in his position as a non-believer, and has reasons for not believing, which would suggest that he has determined no God, therefore positioning himself as athiest.
How can anyone prove something to you if you are not openly asking the question. You are happy with your belief that it is impossible to know weither there is a God so why would you want to listen to what someonelse believes?
An agnostic would likely to be pursueing a possible answer. (Correct application of the word).
Yourself pie, you have made up in your mind God doesnt exist, or doesnt show himself enough to exist , and therefore doesnt exist. The point being, you are athiest. Many a times, our discussions - you have the assumed conclusion God doesn't exist, never willing to accept the POSSIBILITY of god existence, as an agnostic would.
Are your motivations for wanting to be agnostic based upon the impression it leaves? A simple excuse to portray that you have actually thought/researched in depth about the subject. (Which i know from our discussions and your posts that you have not.)
You are attempting to fit yourself into a word that appears 'smart' because you dont take on the blind faith of atheism or the 'blind' faith of christianity, but i know you pie, and i doubt that you're truely agnostic (however i wish that you truely were).
"A man is only as good as his word, but when his words no good, then what good is the man?"
I'd rather you proved me wrong with actions rather than talk - I dont believe your claims that you are 'not athiest'.
My arguement is also based upon the definition of the word 'agnostic'. We agree on this, so there is no point in bring it up. However the conflict is that; you think you are not athiest, and i think (from your conversations, actions etc) that you are.
Only you TRUELY know the answer, but i am not at liberty to accept your claim as truth as that would be foolish. Only your actions could change my mind.
Hmmm. not sure where that def. on faith came from because my dictionary says that
faith (n.) 1 complete trust or confidence. 2 strong belief in a religion. 3. a system of religious belief.
My faith is not blind, my faith is a complete trust or confidence in God based on the truth of the bible.
I am often not happy with christianity for one reason or another. I often question those ideals that the world teaches of christianity. However, those questions have, so far, all been answered by the bible. If I have a question that the bible cannot give an answer (or a reason why I do not need to know) the my faith in Christ means nothing.
Thats what makes christianity unique - its ability to prove itself, through the bible.

He is who He said He was.
Who was Charles Darwin?
Did he exist?
Do you believe what he said?
Why do you believe what he said?
Did he kill God?
You are not agnostic.
You would like to think you are, but you are definitely not.
"He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9)

Leitch, I appreciate you challenging Pie to clarify what he believes, but can we leave it?
What about you? Who is Jesus to you?
