To the Christians

Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels. Luke 9

We all have one chance at freedom, around 25,000 days (give or take a lot) are given to us for us to do what we want. So what are you going to do?

I am a frail, distracted, fleeting failure. I constantly struggle with sexual temptation, and cannot seem to escape from its icy prison, and every day I am, to some degree, broken down and discouraged. This secret, personal prison is something that has a continuous hold on me.

This is not intended to be a letter of passive motivation. It is intended to offend.

So what about you, you self-appointed hermet from the place of the drowning?
What about you, you alien out of your own perfect bubble?
What about you, you wind-swept, nice person trying to please everyone?
And you, justifying your expensive tastes while avoiding moral obligation?

Make no mistake. Our circumstances call us to war. Our rally cry is NO COMPROMISE

This is the fallout – the tension between who you are and who you should be.

Where are the heroes? Do you want to just raise the next generation, hoping they might just make a difference to this screwed up world, or is it our turn? Are we the ones? Could we be the history makers?

This is our time – it’s all or nothing. As a wise man said: “Your risk capital needs to be your reputation”. Everything, even our individuality, is to go to God. We need to leave our entire lives open and available to God’s control, because that is when He can accomplish great things through us, but with the credit not going to us (the clay jars – 2 Corinthians 4), but to Him through which all things exist and perpetuate.

We need to be living sacrifices, dead to our own evil and selfish natures, holding nothing back. Because in the end we will all stand before our creator, naked and exposed, and there will be no hiding. Only our battle scars will be testament to the life we’ve lead.

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” – Matthew 7

So why do we waste our short days doing anything but contributing to the kingdom of God? Why do we waste our lives away in front of a box that tells us what matters when none of it truly does? We need to establish our priorities if we are to survive as true Christians.

If we truly are “little Christs”, all that we have and are belong to Him. So, how much are you willing to spend on your jeans? Do you think they help you to be ‘relevant’ to your peers?

And who are we to pass judgment on ‘sinners’? We all attack the fags and the rapists, condemming them from our version of Grace. And therefore we contradict the gift that we ourselves have received, in acknowledgement of our pathetic nature, and that we are all in need of the Saviour.

"For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, " -Romans 3
We are all killers and adulterers, liars and thiefs. All sin takes us from the holiness of God – lets not get caught in the petty ideas of ‘big’ or ‘small’ sin.

From Peer

"Some wish to live within the sound of Church or Chapel bell; I want to run a Rescue Shop within a yard of hell." — C.T. Studd.

He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose. (Jim Elliott)

“Charles Pierce was a notorious Victorian housebreaker, forgerer and double-murderer. The night before he was due to hang at Leeds jail, the prison chaplain visited his cell and explained the gospel to him. At the end of his explanation, Charles Pierce said to him, ‘Do you believe that? Do you believe that? If I believed it, I would willingly crawl across England on broken glass to tell one other person.’”

"While you were sleeping last night, 30,000 kids died of starvation or diseases related to malnutrition. Second, most of you don't give a shit. What's worse is that you're more upset with the fact that I said shit than the fact that 30,000 kids died last night." - Tony Campolo

Hey Jakes,
Even though I'm not christian I do think that was quite a good post. I find half-assed christians confusing and pointless. So keep up the good work and I hope your having a good time in England.

Hey Jacob,

Good to read something from you. Have you read Every Young Man's Battle? I just finished it along with Every Young Man, God's Man. Both are exceptionally good books. If you haven't already, get your hands on a copy. Talk to you later.
